Auggies close season with losses to Oles

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University baseball team closed its 2026 season facing St. Olaf College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Parade Stadium, resulting in two losses for the Auggies, 5-4 and 17-2. The doubleheader marked the final collegiate contests for 13 Augsburg seniors, including Nick Allbee, Jake Gonse, Will Haverly, Jacob Henry, Drew Jenkins, Aaron Jones, Austin Lang, Kell Piggott, Jake Pittelkow, Stanley Regguinti, Vincent Rupp, Jackson Sirek and Manny Weiss

GAME 1 RECAP
In the first game, Augsburg rallied with a four-run fourth inning, but could not overcome St. Olaf's three-run fifth. St. Olaf scored the first run in the opening inning with Jack Pettit crossing home on a single by Henry Black. Augsburg could not respond in its half, leaving the score at 1–0 after one inning. In the third inning, St. Olaf extended its lead to 2–0 when Jack Pettit scored again on an RBI groundout by Black.

Augsburg's offense ignited in the fourth inning as Jack Huberty scored on a sacrifice fly by Ethan Hathaway. Stanley Regguinti then doubled down the left-field line, bringing Aaron Jones home. Jorda Sivoravong added a two-RBI single, scoring Regguinti and Stuart Hellie, giving Augsburg a 4–2 advantage through four innings. However, the Oles responded in the fifth inning with three runs, regaining the lead at 5-4.

Austin Lang pitched a complete game for Augsburg, throwing 7 innings and striking out 9 batters. He allowed 5 earned runs on 6 hits, issuing 3 walks and hitting 3 batters. Despite the loss, Lang threw 112 pitches, 74 of which were strikes, demonstrating his ability to maintain control throughout the game. Jorda Sivoravong drove in two runs and added a stolen base. Regguinti collected two hits, including a double, and scored a run while also driving in one. Aaron Jones recorded two hits and crossed the plate once.

GAME 2 RECAP
In the second game, St. Olaf took control early with a six-run first inning, highlighted by Christopher Woodside's three-run homer to left field. Augsburg managed to score a run in the second and sixth innings, but St. Olaf continued to dominate throughout the game. Jack Huberty put Augsburg on the board with a solo home run in the second inning, narrowing the gap to 601. However, St. Olaf added to its lead with further runs in the third, fifth, and a four-run seventh inning to seal the victory.

Manny Weiss started for Augsburg, pitching 2 2/3 innings while allowing seven earned runs on ten hits, including one home run. Vincent Rupp came in relief, conceding three earned runs over 2 1/3 innings. Will Haverly pitched one inning, surrendering three earned runs, while Jackson Sirek gave up three earned runs. Jack McCabe closed out the pitching effort with one inning of relief. Jack Huberty recorded two hits, two RBIs, and a home run. Andruw Vela contributed by scoring a run and drawing two walks.
