
MINNEAPOLIS -- Drew Privette '89, an Augsburg University Athletic Hall of Famer who has served on the Auggie athletics staff since 1992, Is retiring from his current position as Athletic Department Operations Manager and A-Club Coordinator.

From 1992 to 2017, Privette served as an assistant coach for the Augsburg football team, serving at various times as assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In 2017, he left his coaching duties to serve the athletic department as its operations manager, administrative assistant and concessions and merchandise co-manager.

"It's hard to put into words what Augsburg has meant to me. As a student-athlete, coach, administrator, and alumnus, I've been fortunate to spend nearly my entire adult life as part of this incredible community. The relationships I've built with student-athletes, coaches, staff, alumni, and friends have been amazing," Privette said. "Looking back, I'm especially grateful for the opportunity to coach and work alongside so many outstanding people and to help mentor generations of student-athletes."

Privette was inducted into the Augsburg Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009, his first year of eligibility, after an all-conference career in both football and hockey. As a wide receiver in football, he finished his career with 146 receptions for 1,792 yards and 15 touchdowns, setting a school records at the time for career receptions. He earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in football in both 1987 and 1988.

As a forward for the men's hockey team, Privette finished his career with 24 goals and 28 assists for 52 points in 94 career games, earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors in both 1986-87 and 1988-89. He also played golf for one season at Augsburg.

In his role as football coach, he helped to develop the Auggies' high-powered passing offense, which won the team the MIAC title in 1997 and set conference passing records through the 2000s. He served as the team's recruiting coordinator for many years, with 135 All-MIAC honors earned by Auggie players, along with 35 D3football.com All-Region honors and 30 Division III All-American honors from various organizations.

A 1989 Augsburg alumnus, Privette will officially retire at the end of August.
