MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg University has promoted Conner Nord (St. Thomas '15) to be its full-time assistant coach for the men's basketball team, Head Coach Aaron Griess has announced.
 
Last season, Nord served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Auggies, preparing scouting reports and film breakdowns, along with leading individual and small-group player development sessions. Last year, Augsburg finished 17-10 overall and 9-7 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, reaching the conference playoff semifinals.
 
"I'm incredibly grateful and excited to be a part of the Augsburg men's basketball family," Nord said. "Having competed against coach Griess' teams for 15 years prior to joining the staff, I've always admired how tough, prepared, and resilient they were. I'm thankful for the opportunity to continue serving our student-athletes and helping build something special at Augsburg."
 
Prior to coming to Augsburg, Nord spent seven seasons (2018-2025) as an assistant coach at Macalester College, his last three years as associate head coach, under head coach Abe Woldeslassie. Nord helped to direct the Scots' defensive strategy, oversaw recruiting and helped with budget operations. He also prepared scouting reports, off season leadership development and guided youth camps and coaches clinics for the community.
 
From 2016-18, he served as an assistant coach at Carleton College under coach Guy Kalland. While at Carleton he helped with scouting preparation, skill development and recruiting initiatives. Primarily working with the team's post players, developing two players who later played professional basketball.

Throughout his coaching career, he's demonstrated the ability to build meaningful relationships while helping programs compete at a high level," Griess said. "His playing and coaching experience in the MIAC give him an immediate understanding of our conference, the caliber of student-athletes we recruit, and what it takes to be successful here. Beyond his basketball knowledge, Conner's character, professionalism, and passion for mentoring young people make him a perfect fit for our program and the values of Augsburg University."
 
A native of Eden Prairie, Minn., Nord played collegiately at the University of St. Thomas (2011-15), earning All-MIAC honors in both his junior and senior seasons, and All-MIAC First-Year Team in 2011-12. A two-year team captain, Nord finished his 117-game Tommie career with 1,056 points (9.0 per-game) and 645 rebounds (5.5 per-game). Nord followed up his collegiate experience by playing one season of professional basketball in Germany.
 
He was an all-conference and all-tournament team selection at Eden Prairie, also earning Academic All-State honors. He played for teams that won the Lake Conference title twice, both times advancing to the Minnesota state tournament.
 
Nord earned his bachelor's degree in health promotion from St. Thomas in 2015, and earned a master's degree in sports management from Concordia University-St. Paul in 2018.
