ADAM CARL (Football/2012 Baseball) – All-MIAC 1st team (football), D3football.com All-West Region 1st team, D3football.com All-America 1st team, Beyond College Sports Network All-America honorable mention, Capital One Academic All-District (football), All-MIAC (baseball), ABCA All-Midwest Region 2nd team (baseball), MIAC Athlete of Week (baseball, April 16), NCBWA D-III Player of the Week honorable mention (April 19), Academic All-MIAC (baseball and football) … Tight end in football, shortstop in baseball … In football, led the team with 53 receptions (2nd-best in MIAC) and eight touchdowns (4th-best in MIAC), while recording a team-best 640 receiving yards … Had four 100-yard receiving games on the season, while scoring touchdowns in five of the team’s 10 games, also recorded one rushing touchdown … Led team to best overall record since 1997 season … In 2012 baseball, hit .361 (43-of-119) with 26 runs scored, 10 doubles and team highs of three home runs and 30 RBI; in conference stats only, his batting average was fourth-best in MIAC, while RBI total was second-best. |

MOLLY ALLEN (Soccer/Track and Field) – All-MIAC, NSCAA All-North Region 2nd team, Academic All-MIAC … Midfielder … Recorded a team-high 11 assists, which was the third-highest total among MIAC athletes, 31st among NCAA Division III players nationally, and also ranks as the third-highest single season assist total in school history … Claimed at least one assist in nine of her 20 games this season, including two assists in Augsburg's 3-2 loss to Loras on Sept. 14 and two assists in a 2-0 win over St. Mary's on Oct. 27 ... Also a member of Augsburg's women's track and field team. |
MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE YEAR - INDIVIDUAL SPORT
CHAD JOHNSON (Wrestling) – NCAA Division III national champion (heavyweight), NCAA All-America, NCAA national tournament qualifier, NCAA Division III West Regional champion … Won NCAA Division III national championship for 2nd straight year, becoming 40th Auggie wrestler to earn three or more All-American honors and 10th Auggie wrestler to be a multiple national champion … Won titles at Auggie-Brute-Adidas Open, St. Cloud State Husky Open, Citrus Invitational and UW-Eau Claire Blugold Open … Finished the season with a 37-1 record, winning final 29 matches in a row … Lone loss came to 2012 Division II national runner-up … Recorded 15 pins, one technical fall and eight major decisions on the year. |

ASHLEY CARNEY (2012 Outdoor Track and Field/2013 Indoor Track and Field) – NCAA All-American, NCAA national championships qualifier, All-MIAC, All-MIAC honorable mention, 2012 MIAC Outdoor Championships Outstanding Track Athlete, MIAC Track Athlete of the Week (Jan. 29) … Sprinter … In 2012, won MIAC titles in outdoor 100- and 200-meter dashes, becoming first MIAC athlete to win outdoor “sprint double” since 2007 … Named Outstanding Track Athlete of 2012 MIAC Outdoor Championships … Set conference meet and school records in outdoor 100-meter dash (11.89 seconds) … Qualified for 2012 NCAA outdoor national championships in 100-meter dash (7th place), earning All-America honors … At 2013 MIAC indoor championships, claimed MIAC title for 2nd year in a row in 60-meter dash, while placing 2nd in 200-meter dash and running anchor leg of conference-champion 800-meter relay. |

ARYTON SCOTT (Football) – All-MIAC 1st team, D3Football.com All-West Region 3rd team, MIAC Athlete of the Week (Sept. 17, Sept. 24, Oct. 8), D3football.com Team of the Week (Oct. 23) … Quarterback … Only first-year player named to All-MIAC first team … Set single-season school record for rushing yardage (1,436 yards on 209 carries) … Scott's 368.1 yards of total offense per-game were third-most among Division III players nationally this season … He had 300-plus yards of total offense in seven games this season … Led the MIAC in rushing yardage (overall games), as one of only two conference players to record more than 1,000 rushing yards this season … His 26 touchdown passes led the MIAC and his 209 carries were tops among MIAC players (fourth-most in a single season in school history). |

ASHLEY PEPER (Volleyball) – All-MIAC, Augsburg Invitational All-Tournament Team … Outside hitter … Played in 28 matches … Ranked first on the team in kills (340) and attack percentage (.250) … Ranked second on the team in assists (44) … Ranked third on the team in blocks (50), and digs (263) … One of only two first-year players in the conference selected to the All-MIAC team, and first-ever Augsburg first-year player selected … Kill total ranked third in the conference and 3.24 kills-per-set average was fourth-best … Recorded a season-high 20 kills in the Auggies five-set win over St. Olaf on Oct. 19. |
MEN'S TEAM OF THE YEAR
BASKETBALL (21-7 overall, 14-6 MIAC—3rd/11) -- Augsburg finished 21-7 overall, 14-6 in MIAC play, reaching the MIAC postseason playoffs for the fourth time in the last five seasons, while reaching the playoff championship game for the first time under eighth-year head coach Aaron Griess. The double-digit victories marked the seventh straight year that Augsburg has recorded double-digit wins under Griess, and the first time the Auggies have reached the 20-win mark since the 1998-99 MIAC championship season. Post player Dan Kornbaum was named to the All-MIAC squad, also earning D3hoops.com All-West Region second-team honors and NABC All-West District second-team honors. Guard Parker Hines, guard Tyler Schmidt and forward Noah Veach were named All-MIAC honorable mention, with Veach also earning MIAC All-Defensive Team honors. Post player Brett Rasmussen earned All-MIAC First-Year Team and D3hoops.com West Region Rookie of the Year honors, and forward Andy Seidlitz was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. |

SOCCER (12-5-3 overall, 6-3-2 MIAC--3rd/12) -- Under 14th-year head coach Mike Navarre, Augsburg finished 12-5-3 overall, 6-3-2 in MIAC play in 2012, earning a trip to the MIAC postseason playoffs for the first time since 2007. Augsburg's 12 wins are the second-most in a single season in school history. This season, Augsburg reached the MIAC playoff championship game for the first time in its five trips to the MIAC playoffs. The Auggies claimed a 2-1 overtime win at St. Olaf in the MIAC playoff semifinals and tied Concordia-Moorhead 0-0 in overtime in the playoff title game, but fell 7-6 in the penalty-kick shootout. Forward Bri Clark and midfielder Molly Allen earned All-MIAC honors and were both also named to the NSCAA All-North Region squad, Allen as a second-team selection and Clark as a third-team selection. Midfielder Bri Dorale and defender Alekzandra Miller earned All-MIAC honorable-mention honors, with Dorale also being named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. |
MEN'S MOST IMPROVED TEAM OF THE YEAR
2012 BASEBALL (24-15 overall, 10-10 MIAC--t4th/11 in 2012 … 11-22 overall, 6-14 MIAC--t9th/11 in 2011) -- Augsburg finished 24-15 overall, 10-10 in MIAC play in 2012 -- a 13-win improvement over the Auggies’ 2011 record. Augsburg's 24 victories marked the fourth time that the Auggies have won 20 or more games in head coach Keith Bateman’s nine seasons at Augsburg, and the Auggies' best record since a 24-18 mark in the 2005 season. Shortstop Adam Carl earned All-MIAC honors, and was also named to the ABCA All-Midwest Region squad as a second-team selection. Pitcher Ryan Mestnik was named to the D3baseball.com All-Midwest Region third team, and first baseman Tom Petersen, outfielder Tim Gerding and second baseman Louie LaChapelle were named All-MIAC honorable-mention. Pitcher Tanner Oakes earned MIAC All-Defensive Team honors, and infielder Bobby Monsour was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. |
