11155BASKETBALL (15-11 overall, 10-10 MIAC) -- Won of five of its last eight games to earn a spot in the conference playoffs for the sixth time in the last eight seasons, currently stands second among MIAC teams in overall wins in the last eight seasons … Finished the season ranked 22nd nationally with field-goal percentage of 48.1 percent … Scored a 98-89 victory of No. 4 St. Thomas, beating the Tommies for the first time since the 2005-06 season … Sophomore forward Collin Olmscheid earned All-MIAC honors, ranking fourth among MIAC players in overall statistics with an 17.5 points per-game average … Senior Forward Brett Rasmussen earned All-MIAC honorable mention honors scoring in double figures in 23 of 26 games this season, averaging 15.5 points per-game in conference play.
10156GOLF (MIAC champions, NCAA national tournament qualifying team) -- With all five players finishing among the top 35 in the individual standings, Augsburg won the MIAC Championships in the fall, and earned the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships, which will be held May 10-13 in Rochester, N.Y. … Michael Barrette earned All-Championship honors, finishing in second place with a 219 total. Barrette’s 12 birdies in the tournament were the most of any competitor. Brett Gaustad also earned All-Championship honors, finishing in a tie for fifth place with a 222 total … Augsburg finished the fall half of the 2015-16 season with a 302.2 team stroke average, with five players recording sub-80 stroke averages … Augsburg recorded 11 sub-310 team rounds among its 12 in the fall half of the season.
10546HOCKEY (17-9-2 overall, 11-3-2 MIAC, MIAC Regular Season and Playoff champions, NCAA Division III national playoff quarterfinalist) -- Augsburg finished as conference regular season and playoff champions, its first conference championship since the 1997-98 season, third straight double-digit win season and sixth in the last seven seasons … Augsburg secured the playoff championship with a triple-overtime victory over Saint John’s, the third longest game in NCAA D-III history … Forwards Corbin Chapman and Nate Flynn, goalie Jordyn Kaufer and defenders Eli May and Rory Vesel earned All-MIAC honors, with Kaufer also earning AHCA Division III All-America second-team honors ...Forwards Mack Ohnsted and Trevor Stewart earned All-MIAC honorable mention recognition and Head Coach Chris Brown was named the conference’s Coach of the Year.
11158WRESTLING (12-4 overall, NCAA Division III West Regional champion, 5th at NCAA DIII National Championships) -- Augsburg won the NCAA Division III West Regional and qualified nine wrestlers in 10 weight classes to the NCAA Division III National Championships, its 13th straight NCAA regional title … Augsburg claimed its 34th top-five national tournament finish in school history, earning four All-Americans -- heavyweight Donny Longendyke who was a national runner-up, 165-pounder Eric Hensel who repeated his fifth-place finish from last season, 149-pounder Rashad Kennedy and 157-pounder Grant Parker, who both finished in seventh place.
