15036HOCKEY (14-7-5 overall, 9-4-5 MIAC, MIAC playoff participant) -- For the third straight year, Augsburg earned a spot in the MIAC postseason playoffs, with a .500-or-above MIAC record for the fourth straight year. Augsburg outscored its opponents by a 67-45 margin, scoring three or more goals in 12 contests. Two Auggie sophomores earned All-MIAC honors -- forward Bridget Wagner and defender Nikki Nightengale -- and defenders Valerie Whichello and Taral Clayton were named All-MIAC Honorable Mention. The Auggies were unbeaten (5-0-2) in their final seven games of the regular season, and claimed league sweeps of Bethel, Saint Mary’s, Saint Benedict and St. Catherine.
150322017 LACROSSE (12-6 overall, 8-3 MWLC, MWLC playoff participant) -- Augsburg earned a trip to the Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference postseason playoffs for the second straight year since joining the league. The Auggies won their first three games and five of their first six, then closed the regular season with three wins in their final four games, including a 16-15 overtime win at league rival Concordia-Wisconsin. Defender Christina Nelson earned All-MWLC first-team honors for the second team in a row, joining midfielder Delaney Everett on the first team. Attacker Helena Nguyen and midfielder Rachel Frantz were All-MWLC Honorable Mention recipients. Augsburg outscored its opponents by a 243-165 margin in 2017.
15037SOCCER (12-4-2 overall, 8-1-2 MIAC, MIAC regular-season champions, MIAC playoff participant) -- Augsburg claimed the MIAC regular-season championship for the second time in a four-year span, going 8-1-2 in league play. The Auggies clinched the title with a 2-1, two-overtime win over St. Olaf in the regular-season finale. Coach Mike Navarre was named MIAC Coach of the Year for the second time in a four-year span, and forward Ashley St. Aubin earned MIAC Player of the Year on Offense honors. St. Aubin was also named to the United Soccer Coaches Division III All-America team as a second-team honoree, in addition to earning USC Division III All-North Region first-team honors. Defender Lauren Jennings was an All-MIAC and USC All-Region third-team honoree, while Ciara Gregory also earned All-MIAC honors and Jada Olson was named All-MIAC Honorable Mention.
15038VOLLEYBALL (19-12 overall, 7-4 MIAC, MIAC playoff semifinalist) -- Augsburg jumped out to a 7-1 start to the season and reached the MIAC postseason playoffs for the sixth time in the last 10 seasons. Augsburg has recorded 16-plus wins in each of the last 10 seasons. The Auggies were seeded sixth in the MIAC playoffs, but claimed a 3-1 win at No. 3-seed Gustavus in the first round of the playoffs before falling in a 3-2 semifinal heartbreaker at Saint Benedict. Libero Macey Terhell was named MIAC co-Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight year, joining Corrina Evans, Taylor Linn and Morgan Malley as All-MIAC honorees. Linn also earned AVCA All-Central Region and AVCA All-America second-team honors, while Terhell and Malley were named as AVCA All-Central Region Honorable Mention honorees.
