BASKETBALL
(18-8 overall, 14-6 MIAC, MIAC playoff semifinalist) -- Augsburg’s 14 wins in MIAC play were the most since the 2013-14 season. The Auggies made the MIAC postseason playoffs for the fifth straight year and 10th time in the last 12 seasons -- this year finishing as the No. 3-seed, the highest seed since the 2013-14 season. It’s the 10th time in the last 12 years that Augsburg has recorded 15 or more victories in a season. The Auggies were led by swingman Booker Coplin, who was named MIAC Co-Player of the Year, All-MIAC first-team and All-MIAC All-Defensive team -- all for the second consecutive year. Additionally, Coplin was named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region and National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III All-West team, as a first-team honoree on both squads. Guard Matt Carik was named to the All-MIAC second team, while guard Joe Palmer was named to the MIAC All-First-Year Team and guard Isaiah Robinson was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. |
WOMEN'S TEAM OF THE YEAR, TEAM SPORTS (co-winner)
BASKETBALL
(22-5 overall, 17-3 MIAC, MIAC playoff finalist) -- Augsburg tied its best season in varsity program history, which was set last season (2018-19), while also reaching 20 wins for only the second time in program history. The Auggies finished second in the MIAC standings, earning a spot in the MIAC postseason playoffs for the fourth time in the past six seasons and reaching the conference playoff championship game for the second time in school history. Augsburg finished the year being ranked No. 23 in the final D3hoops.com ranking of the regular season. Guard Tamira McLemore earned All-MIAC honors -- joining an elite group of 18 MIAC women’s basketball players to earn All-MIAC honors all four years of their career -- and was also named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. Additionally, McLemore was named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region team as a second-team guard, the third time in her career earning such honors. Forward Camryn Speese also earned All-MIAC honors. Guard Kaezha Wubben was named to the five-player MIAC All-Defensive Team and earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors. Guards Arianna Jones and Aiza Wilson, along with forward Jazmyn Solseth were also named All-MIAC Honorable Mention. |
WOMEN'S TEAM OF THE YEAR, TEAM SPORTS (co-winner)
SOCCER
(15-4-2 overall, 9-1-1 MIAC, MIAC playoff finalist, NCAA second-round participant) -- For the eighth straight year, Augsburg claimed double-digit victories, and for the sixth straight year earned eight or more conference wins. The Auggies reached the MIAC playoffs for the sixth straight year and the seventh time in the last eight years, making the conference final for the fifth time in eight years. Forward Ashley St. Aubin earned All-MIAC honors for the fourth straight year and set the MIAC record for goals with 70. St. Aubin also earned All-America honors for the third straight year, this year earning first-team honors, along with United Soccer Coaches All-Region first team and Scholar All-Region, CoSIDA Academic All-American, D3soccer.com All-American and Scholar All-American honors. Goalkeeper Emily Chapman was named MIAC Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-MIAC honors. Chapman also earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region second team & Scholar All-Region honors. Forward Gabriela Encarnacion earned All-MIAC and United Soccer Coaches All-Region second team honors. Defender Molly Conners also claimed a spot on the All-MIAC squad. Defenders Jada Olson and Jen Masello earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors while forward/midfielder Olivia House was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. |

WRESTLING
(4-2 overall) -- In its inaugural season, Augsburg finished sixth at the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association National Championships and also finished in ninth-place in the 19-team competition at the first-ever Cliff Keen/National Wrestling Coaches Association National Collegiate Championships. Emily Shilson captured the 109-pound national title at the WCWA national championships and claimed her second national title at 109 pounds at the NWCA National Collegiate Championship. Four Auggies were named All-Americans -- joining Shilson were Gabby Skidmore at 130 pounds, Vayle-Rae Baker at 123 pounds and Marlynne Deede at 155 pounds. |

WRESTLING
(8-2 overall, NCAA Upper Midwest Regional champion) -- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Augsburg’s season was dramatically ended right before the NCAA Division III National Championships, where the Auggies were looking to defend their 2019 national championship, their 13th NCAA Division III national title. Augsburg won the NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Regional -- its 18th straight NCAA regional title -- qualifying individuals in eight weight classes, including four regional champions, for the cancelled NCAA national tournament. Winning the regional titles were: Aaron Wilson at 149 pounds, Tanner Vassar at 184 pounds, David Flynn at 141 pounds and Solomon Nielsen at 184 pounds. Ryan Epps (157 pounds), Lance Benick (197 pounds), Lucas Jeske (165 pounds) and Victor Gliva (133 pounds) all qualified for the national tournament with top-three regional finishes. For the third straight year, Victor Gliva was named as the recipient of the NCAA Elite 90 Award, as the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average at the NCAA championships. Nine Auggies earned NWCA Division III Scholar All-America honors. Co-Head Coaches Jim Moulsoff and Tony Valek earned the Upper Midwest Regional Tournament Coach of the Year award, while the Augsburg assistant coaching staff was named Co-Tournament Assistant Coaches of the Year. |
WOMEN'S MOST IMPROVED TEAM
HOCKEY
(2019-20: 21-6 overall, 15-3 MIAC, MIAC playoff finalist; 2018-19: 14-7-5 overall, 11-3-4 MIAC, MIAC playoff semifinalist) -- Augsburg’s 21 wins tied its school record for single-season wins in years where all its opponents were on the varsity level (since 1998-99). Augsburg’s 15 wins in MIAC play are its most in program history, surpassing its 14-4-0 league record in 2016-17. Augsburg finished third in the MIAC standings, earning a spot in its fifth MIAC postseason tournament in a row -- finishing as the No. 3-seed or higher for the last four consecutive years. The Auggies advanced to the MIAC Championship for the first time since the 2016-17 season. Augsburg swept St. Thomas for the first time since the Auggies won their first four meetings with the Tommies, in the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons. Augsburg finished the season ranked No. 10 in the USCHO.com Women’s Division III PairWise Rankings. Forward Bridget Wagner was named MIAC Co-Player of the Year. Wagner and defender Nikki Nightengale earned All-MIAC honors, both finishing their careers as three-time All-MIAC honorees. Defender Mackenzie Molnar received All-MIAC honors after being All-MIAC Honorable Mention last year. Forward Emily Ach and goalie Annie Juergens earned All-MIAC honors for the first time in their careers. Forward Katie Flynn was named to the MIAC All-Rookie Team and earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors, while defender Hollywood Hermanson was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. |
