Former collegiate and professional baseball player Scott Lieser (St. Cloud State '13) is serving as a graduate fellow assistant coach in 2017.
Lieser played collegiately at St. Cloud State (Minn.), where he finished his career with a school-record 32 victories (32-7) in 66 appearances, 226 strikeouts and a 3.10 earned-run average. He competed on Husky squads that reached the NCAA Division II Central Regional each of his four years, with Lieser earning All-Tournament Team honors his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. A two-year captain, he earned All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honors twice and All-Central Region honors three times. Lieser was named to the Daktronics Division II All-America honorable mention squad in 2013, when he went 10-3 (15 appearances, five complete games) in 83.0 innings, recording 66 strikeouts against just 11 walks, with a 2.71 ERA.
Lieser played professionally in the Milwaukee Brewers organization for three seasons (2013-15), reaching the high-A level. In 63 professional appearances, mostly as a reliever (99.0 innings), he went 4-5 with two saves, 87 strikeouts against 14 walks, with a 1.19 ERA. During his college years, he played summer baseball in the Northwoods League with the Waterloo Bucks (2010) and Willmar Stingers (2011-12).
He has coached traveling baseball with the Minnesota Select U-13 squad, and most recently served as junior varsity coach at Centennial High School.
A native of Browerville, Minn., he played baseball, football and basketball at Browerville High School, leading his baseball team to two state tournament appearances and earning team Most Valuable Player honors twice. He was named to the Minnesota Lions' All-Star Team in his senior season of 2009.
Lieser earned his bachelor's degree in communication, recreation and sports management from St. Cloud State in 2013, and will be pursuing his master's degree at Augsburg.
