Cory Hanson (Northern Illinois '09) enters his first season on the Augsburg football coaching staff in 2018, coaching the defensive line.
From 2012-15, Hanson served on the University of Minnesota coaching staff under his former collegiate coaches, Jerry Kill and Tracy Claeys. He was a football operations assistant and assistant recruiting coordinator in 2012 and 2013, and was a defensive graduate assistant in the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He also served as an intern coach at Northern Illinois in 2011.
As a collegiate player at Division I Northern Illinois, Hanson was a four-year starting linebacker. In 43 career games, he accumulated 247 tackles (109 solo), including 16.5 tackles for loss, four sacks and three interceptions. He earned Mid-American Conference Player of the Week honors during the 2009 season, and he was a team co-captain his senior season.
A native of Minneapolis (DeLaSalle HS), Hanson earned his bachelor's degree in business/corporate communications in 2009 and master's degree in higher education and higher education administration in 2012, both from Northern Illinois.
