Augsburg alum Greg Clough (Augsburg '86) returned to his alma mater in 2020, joining the Augsburg football staff as an assistant football coach/defensive coordinator.
Previous Coaching Experience:
Clough spent 18 years on the coaching staff at Minnetonka (Minn.) High School, the last 17 as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. With the Skippers, he coached in two Minnesota Prep Bowls, winning the state title in 2004 and finishing as runners-up in 2017. He earned the Minnesota Football Coaches Association's Butch Nash Award for excellence as an assistant coach in 2014, and was named the state's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2017. He served as defensive coordinator for the victorious South team at the 2017 Minnesota High School Football All-Star Game.
Prior to his years at Minnetonka, he served as an assistant coach from 1997-2001 at Minnesota State University-Mankato, the last three seasons as defensive coordinator. His coaching stops have also included stints as an assistant coach at Richfield (1985) and Minneapolis Washburn (1986), and as head coach at Minneapolis Southwest (1987-88) and Roseville (1992-96). While attending graduate school at Montana State University, he served on Augsburg alum Earle Solomonson's staff as a graduate assistant (1989) and as defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator (1990-91).
Personal Notes:
Clough received his bachelor's degree in physical education from Augsburg in 1986, and his master's degree in health and human development (sport management emphasis) from Montana State in 1990.
