Joe Freitag (Monmouth ‘07) is in his first season on the Augsburg coaching staff, serving as offensive line coach. He also serves the college as men’s athletic equipment supervisor.
Augsburg Coaching Highlights:
2010- Beating Gustavus Adolphus College (17-14).
Previous Coaching Experience:
Freitage most recently served as an assistant coach at Coe (Iowa), serving in 2007 as defensive line coach and 2008-09 as offensive line coach. He also served as Coe's junior varsity head coach, going 8-2 in two seasons. Freitag was part of a Kohawk squad that finished 10-2 in 2009, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division III national playoffs.
Playing Experience/ Acheivements:
As a three-year starter on the offensive line during his playing days at Monmouth (Ill.), Freitag earned All-Midwest Conference honors three times (first team in 2005-06, second team in 2004), D3football.com All-West Region third-team honors in 2006 and Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-American second-team honors in 2006. Monmouth was 34-7 during his career (2003-06).
