Jon Kyte (Wartburg ‘04) enters his first season on the Augsburg staff in 2010, directing the linebackers, defensive line and special teams. He will also serve as video coordinator and assistant recruiting coordinator for the Auggies.
Prior to coming to Augsburg, Kyte served for two seasons as an assistant coach (tight ends) at Division II Winona State, where he coached two all-conference tight ends. In 2007, he was an assistant coach at Anamosa (Iowa) HS. He also served two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Winona State and two seasons as a student assistant coach at Wartburg (Iowa), his alma mater.
Kyte was a defensive lineman at Wartburg, where he was part of two Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and NCAA Division III playoff qualifying squads. His Knight class went 38-6 in his career, the best four-year record in school history. Kyte is a native of Monticello, Iowa, where he was an all-district and all-conference player in his high school days.
Kyte earned his bachelor’s degree in communication arts (sports marketing/public relations) from Wartburg in 2004 and his master’s degree in educational leadership from Winona State in 2006. He currently resides in Minneapolis.
