Tyler Phillips (Augsburg '12) enters his first season as an Augsburg football assistant coach in 2016, directing the defensive backs.
Playing Experience/Achievements:
A three-year starter at cornerback for the Auggies, Phillips earned All-MIAC second-team honors in 2011, while earning MIAC Player of the Week honors twice and D3football.com Team of the Week honors once. He played in the Aztec Bowl small-college all-star game in Mexico in 2011.
He finished his Auggie career with 193 tackles (117 solo) in 33 career games, along with five interceptions, 13 pass breakups, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, 7.0 tackles for-loss and 1.0 sacks.
After his college career ended, he played four seasons of professional football -- two in Germany and two in the Indoor Football League. In Germany, he played for the Frankfurt Universe of the German Football League (2013-14), where he earned league All-Star honors both seasons, recording 147 tackles, nine interceptions and 19 pass breakups in 26 games.
He played for the Green Bay Blizzard and Sioux Falls Storm in the IFL in 2015 and 2016 seasons, including Sioux Falls' IFL title team in 2015.

Phillips operates his own company, Totally Committed, where he performs athletic personal training and health and wellness training, while also managing musicians and special events.
