Jake Phillips

Jake Phillips enters his fourth season as an Assistant Coach with the Augsburg College Men’s Basketball Program. Phillips helps coordinate the Auggie defense and works with the Augsburg perimeter players.

Augsburg Highlights:
In Phillips' first season, the Auggies finished with an overall record of 15-12, and appeared in the semifinal round of the conference tournament. In the process, Augsburg defeated Phillips' alma mater Carleton College in the first round of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs. During his second season, Phillips was instrumental in helping the Auggies finish the season ranked among the top four in the conference in both field goal defense and points per game allowed.

Playing Experience/Achievements:
A four-year starting guard at Carleton (2003-07), Phillips earned All-MIAC honors his junior and senior seasons and was an All-MIAC First-Year Team honoree in 2003-04. In 107 games (97 starts) as a Knight, Phillips scored 1,102 points (10.3 ppg), while contributing 411 assists (3.8 apg), 345 rebounds (3.2 rpg) and 156 steals (1.5 spg). He holds nearly every three-point shooting record at Carleton, including 241 career three-pointers, and is in the school's top-10 record list in several career categories. Teams he played on went 64-43 and advanced to MIAC tournament play all four seasons, including a 21-7 mark in 2005-06, a MIAC regular-season co-championship and Carleton's first-ever NCAA Division III national tournament berth.

Personal/Family Notes:
A native of Brainerd, Minn, Phillips and his wife Katie reside in St. Anthony, Minn. Phillps currently works as a term energy trader for ACES Power Marketing in Maple Grove, Minn., and is pursuing a master's degree in business adminstration through the University of Minnesota.
