Ryan Kershaw (St. Olaf 2004) enters his sixth season as an assistant coach of the Augsburg men's basketball staff in 2012-13. In addition to his coaching duties, Kershaw serves as an assistant sports information director in the Augsburg Athletic Department.
Augsburg Coaching Highlights:
In his five seasons as an assistant coach at Augsburg, Kershaw has helped guide the Augsburg program to one of the most impressive turnarounds in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Over the past four seasons (2008-12) Augsburg has recorded the second highest winning percentage among MIAC opponents (.619) and helped guide the Auggies to three MIAC post-season playoff appearances. In 2009-10, the Auggies finished the season tied for second place in the conference standings and recorded an overall record of 19-8 while earning a second-consecutive trip to the semifinals of the MIAC postseason playoffs.
In his five seasons at Augsburg, Kershaw has coached 18 MIAC All-Conference selections, as well as two D3Hoops.com All-Region selections, and one College Sporting News MIAC Player of the Year.
In addition to his duties on the floor, Kershaw also serves as the program's recruiting coordinator, and acts as the director of the Auggie Summer Shootout and Best Buy Holiday Classic.
Previous Coaching Experience:
Assistant Coach- St. Olaf College (2005-07)
Prior to arriving at Augsburg, Kershaw served two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. During his second season as an assistant at St. Olaf, Kershaw was a member of an Ole team that recorded the first MIAC postseason playoff win in school history.
Kershaw has also been active on the club basketball level, as he has coached with the Minnesota Pump n Run AAU program for the past three seasons.
Playing Experience/Achievements:
On the basketball court, Kershaw was a four-year letter winner at St. Olaf College from 2000-04. During his junior season, Kershaw was a part of a St. Olaf team that qualified for the MIAC playoffs, while serving as team captain during his senior season.
Other Duties/Involvement at Augsburg:
Kershaw serves as the Assistant Sports Information Director in the Augsburg Athletics Department. Prior to begining his role in the sports information office, Kershaw spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant in the Augsburg Athletic Department’s Fellowship Program.
Personal/Family Notes:
A native of Huffman, Tx., Kershaw and his wife Abby currently reside in downtown Minneapolis. Kershaw completed his bachelor's degree in social studies education from St. Olaf in 2004, and recently completed graduate coursework in the Master of Arts of Leadership Program at Augsburg.
