Ben Goessling (Minnesota '05) joined the Augsburg cross country/track and field coaching staff in 2025, after 13 years coaching cross country and track and field at Apple Valley (Minn.) High School. Goessling will assist on the men's and women's cross country teams, and work with the middle distance and distance runners in indoor track and field.

Since beginning his coaching career at Apple Valley (his alma mater) in 2012, Goessling has coached five individual state meet qualifiers and three state meet relay qualifiers in track and field, as well as eight state meet qualifiers and 15 all-conference runners in cross country. He coached Abdikafi Khalif to two state cross country meets, including an All-State finish in 2021, and two state track and field meets, including a state 800-meter runner-up finish in 2022, and Olivia Anger to two 1,600-meter section titles and the Apple Valley girls' school record in 2015-16. He is a certified USATF Level 1 coach.

He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2005, earning his bachelor's degree in accounting with a second major in journalism, and has covered the Minnesota Vikings for the Minnesota Star Tribune, ESPN and St. Paul Pioneer Press since 2012. His work has been honored by the Associated Press Sports Editors, Pro Football Writers of America, National Headliner Awards and Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists. He remains an avid runner who qualified for the 2024 and 2025 Boston Marathons, completing Boston for the first time in 2024. He lives in south Minneapolis with his wife Marissa and two daughters.
