Mario Mjelleli (Augsburg '11) is in his fifth season as an assistant coach for Augsburg in 2020-21. After spending the 2016-17 season as a volunteer assistant, he was hired as an assistant coach. He also serves the college as men's athletic equipment supervisor. During his time as an assistant coach, the Auggies have earned three straight MIAC playoff titles and qualified for the NCAA Division III national tournament three times, and won the 2019 MIAC regular-season title.

Playing Experience/Achievements
A four-year veteran forward and an assistant captain for the Auggies (2007-11), Mjelleli competed in 94 games, finishing his career with 26 goals and 43 assists for 69 points. He played on teams that qualified for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference his final three seasons. He earned All-MIAC Sportsmanship team honors in the 2009-10 season, and was a two-time nominee for the Hockey Humanitarian Award, earning finalist honors in 2009-10.

After his Auggie playing career ended, he played professional hockey for six years all over the world, playing in The Netherlands (Eindhoven Kemphanen, Laco Eaters Limburg), France (Les Jokers des Cergy), Germany (Neusser EV), Iceland (Skautafelag Akurear Vikings) and New Zealand (West Auckland Admirals). Career highlights include two league championships, a scoring title and an appearance in the 2012 IIHF All-Star game.

Before coming to Augsburg, he played high school hockey at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault. and junior hockey in the NAHL.

Personal/Family Notes
Mjelleli earned his bachelor's degree in finance and management from Augsburg in 2011. Mjelleli and his wife Emily were married in 2017, and the couple resides in Faribault with their daughter, Evelyn.
