Mark Wick (St. Scholastica '85) enters his third season with the Auggies in the 2020-21 season. Wick has seen his coaching career come full-circle after starting as an Augsburg men's hockey assistant coach in 1988. After a career that saw him shine in his native Twin Ports area, Wick returned to Augsburg in the 2018-19 season to serve as an assistant coach.
Previous Coaching Experience
For 14 seasons (2004-18), Wick served as head coach at his alma mater, the College of St. Scholastica. He produced a 190-159-41 (.540) record, with at least 15 wins in nine campaigns. His 2008-09 squad reached the NCAA Division III national quarterfinals, and he was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Coach of the Year in both 2008-09 and 2011-12.
Wick started his coaching career at Augsburg in 1989, serving as an assistant coach. then serving as interim head coach in the 1990-91 campaign. After serving the next two seasons as an assistant, he was named co-head coach alongside Auggie legend Ed Saugestad in the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons.
Wick served as an assistant coach at Wisconsin-Superior from 1996 to 2000, before returning to his alma mater in 2004. He also served as a graduate assistant at Division I Bowling Green in 1988-89.
Personal/Family Notes
A native of Hermantown, Minn., Wick earned his bachelor's degree from St. Scholastica in 1985, and his master's degree from Bowling Green in 1989. He and his wife, Linda, have three children -- Anders, Carly and Jonathon.
