Oscar Herrera (Augsburg '24), one of the best goalkeepers in Augsburg men's soccer history, joined the Auggie coaching staff in 2024.

After completing his playing career for the Auggies, Herrera began his professional career, playing for the Minnesota United FC 2 squad in the MLS NEXT Pro league, the third tier of the United States Soccer Federation's professional soccer structure. In July, he suited up for the main Minnesota United FC club as a reserve goalkeeper for an MLS game.

A four-year starter in goal at Augsburg, Herrera played in 54 games in his Auggie career, going 27-15-2 with a 1.19 goals against-average, 182 saves (.740 save percentage) and 16 shutouts. His 27 career wins are fourth-most in school history, with his GAA tied for sixth-best and 16 shutouts tied for fourth-most.

Herrera earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and United Soccer Coaches All-Region first-team honors in 2021, when he went 12-6-1 (tying Augsburg's single-season school record for wins) with five shutouts and a 1.11 GAA, leading the Auggies to an MIAC postseason playoff berth. He went 7-3-5 with six shutouts and a 1.00 GAA in 2022, and 7-3-6 with four shutouts and a 1.25 GAA for the Auggies' 2023 MIAC playoff squad.

Herrera has played with local club Minneapolis City FC (which plays its home games at Augsburg's Edor Nelson Field) and has trained with Forward Madison (Wis.) since ending his collegiate career.
