Martin Peper

Martin Peper joins the Augsburg College track and field staff after a 20 year head coaching career at Macalester College. Peper was an assistant coach at Macalester for three years before becoming the head coach and prior to that was an assistant for six years at his alma mater, Carleton College.

In addition to his Augsburg coaching duties, Peper currently trains TK Willis an elite Jamaican long jumper.

During his career Peper has coached three NCAA national championships and over 50 of his former athletes were provisional or automatic NCAA national qualifiers. His teams have earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, as well as ten individuals earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.

Peper began his coaching career at Eden Prairie High School in Minnesota and during his seven years at the high school level coached many state participants in the jumps.

After attending Carleton College, Peper continued his education at the University of Minnesota. His academic work is in Classical Civilization, specializing in ancient athletics, specifically the Greek Olympics. Peper finished his training to become an archaeologist prior to becoming the head coach at Macalester College.

Coach Peper has completed the USAT&F Level I program, is USAT&F Level II certified in the endurance events and the jumps, and has completed over 50 hours of USAT&F Level III. He also lectures at track and field clinics. Pepper was the meet director during the two NCAA Division III national outdoor championships hosted at Macalester. Peper lives in St. Paul with his wife and son.Â
