    Women's Basketball Assistant Coach
Jennifer Phillips (St. Thomas '89) joined the Augsburg women's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2018-19 season. 

During her college days at the University of St. Thomas, Philips was a four-year, two-sport athlete participating in basketball and indoor/outdoor track and field, earning several honors and awards in both sports.

Phillips has 18 years of basketball coaching experience in the Twin Cities. Phillips established the MLK Minneapolis Travel Basketball program in South Minneapolis, and is the acting volunteer program coordinator. In addition, Phillips is a co-creator of the ML King Park Fundamental Youth Basketball Development Program in South Minneapolis.

Playing Experience/Achievements
• Halls of Fame Inductions: Phillips was inducted into the University of St. Thomas Hall of Fame in 1998, and was part of the inaugural class of the Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School Hall of Fame in 2013.
• In basketball at St. Thomas, Phillips held the school steals record (323) for 11 years, and holds the school record for three-pointers made in one game (six). She scored 897 points in three seasons of basketball. Her last team went 22-5, was a MIAC runner-up and an NCAA Division III playoff qualifier.
• In track and field at St. Thomas, Phillips earned All-American honors nine times in sprints and relays. She was a member of four MIAC champion track teams, placing twice at the NCAA Division III national championships in the 400-yard dash (1986 and 1989).
• Phillips attended Benilde-St. Margaret’s and was a three-sport athlete (volleyball, basketball, track and field), earning several conference, state berths, and team and individual awards. She earned the Athena Award in her senior year.

• Minneapolis Park and Recreation Volunteer for the Year Award recipient (2003, 2008)
• Volunteer General Council Member Leadership Award recipient (2000-2002)

Personal Notes
A native of Minneapolis, Phillips graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in business administration, concentration in marketing and communications.

Phillips professional career includes: special events coordinator for Dayton’s corporate offices; executive development director for a Minneapolis school and health services for children with physical and learning disabilities; development director for Voices for Illinois Children, a statewide public policy and advocacy non-profit organization; and as a training team merchandising specialist at Target corporate offices. Phillips splits her time between coaching and community programs and development opportunities.

Phillips and her husband, Joe Fleming, have three children -- Samuel, Maxwell and Isabelle -- and live in South Minneapolis.
