Joshua Hersch (Augsburg '09) enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Auggies' women's basketball team in 2014-15. In addition to his women's basketball duties as an assistant coach and the team's recruiting coordinator, Hersch serves as the college's director of intramurals.

Hersch joins head coach Bill McKee's Augsburg staff after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of St. Thomas. In addition to his on-court duties, Hersch served as the team's assistant recruiting coordinator, film exchange/breakdown coordinator and coordinator of the team's social media efforts. In his two seasons at UST, the Tommies went 55-8 overall (42-4 MIAC), winning the MIAC regular-season title in 2011-12 and winning the conference playoff titles in both 2011-12 and 2012-13. The Tommies advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament Final Four in 2011-12 and to the round of 16 in 2012-13.

“Joshua is an enthusiastic coach who has significant experience in AAU, high school and college basketball,” McKee said. “He has a tremendous passion for the players he's worked with and for Augsburg College. He is a great addition to our coaching staff.”

For four seasons (2007-11), Hersch served as an assistant coach for the Cretin-Derham Hall High School girls' basketball team, serving as the ninth-grade "A" coach for three seasons and as junior varsity coach for one season.

Since 2011, Hersch has served as a coach for the Minnesota Stars AAU basketball club, the largest elite-level girls' basketball club in the Midwest, where he currently coaches one of the top teams in the state of Minnesota at the 16-under level.

Hersch graduated from Augsburg in 2009, earning a bachelor's degree in health and physical education. As a student, Hersch worked as an assistant intramural sports and activities director. He also served as a physical education teacher at Emily Grey Accelerated Charter School in Minneapolis from 2010 to 2011.
