Jessica Tyra (University of Wisconsin-Superior '11) will enter her second season as a member of the Augsburg women's hockey coaching staff in 2012-13. A former division I women's hockey player, Tyra is currently serving as a graduate fellow in the Augsburg Athletic Department.
Playing Career/Acheivements:
Tyra spent three seasons as a member of the Bemidji State University women's hockey program before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Superior. In her two seasons at UW-Superior, Tyra participated Yellowjacket teams that finished with a combined record of 35-17-4 under head coach Dan Laughlin. During the 2008-09 season, Tyra recorded 10 goals and seven assists on a team that finished the season with a 17-8-2 record and second-place finish in the NCHA regular season standings.
An All-State selection at Centennial High School, Tyra led the Cougars to a 26-3-1 record and appearance in the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament during her senior season.
Personal/Family Notes:
A native of Fridley, Minn., Tyra graduated with a degree in Health and Wellness Management from UW-Superior in 2011. Tyra is currently pursuing a masters degree in education from Augsburg.
