Chris Dixon enters his sixth year on the Augsburg men's and women's track and field coaching staff, and fourth as head coach in 2024-25. He served for two years as an assistant coach prior to being named head coach in October 2021. Dixon also serves as an Assistant Athletic Director and as the Director of Athletic Diversity and Inclusion. This position is largely made possible through the two-year NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's grant program. Augsburg was one of only 20 institutions and conference offices nationally selected to receive the grant.
Professional Experience
Dixon is a health and fitness education and wellness consultant in the Twin Cities. His list of businesses include: Insider Training, Inc.; Fitness and Sports Training LLC; and the not-for-profit Health is Love organization. Being involved in the health and fitness community since 2004, Dixon has held fitness certifications from the American Council on Exercise, American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association and USA track and Field.
As an entrepreneur, Dixon has been honored by the Dakota Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, was awarded a Buckman Fellowship for Leadership in Philanthropy and was selected as a "Rising Alumni" by the University of Minnesota College of Education and Human Development in 2014. Chris most recently served as director of a vocational school that certified fitness professionals.
Playing Experience/Achievements
As a student-athlete for the Gophers, he competed as a horizontal jumper and was an NCAA provisional qualifier in the triple jump.
Personal Notes
Dixon graduated with a B.S. in Sports Management from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2004. He then earned his M.Ed. in Applied Kinesiology-Sport & Exercise Science from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2005.
