Dan Vogel (Augsburg '05) is in his third season as an assistant track and field/cross country coach at Augsburg in 2009-10. Vogel was a member of the Auggies' track and cross country teams throughout his career, earning honorable-mention All-MIAC honors in cross country in 2004 and All-Central Region honors in 2003. In track and field, he was a member of record-setting indoor and outdoor distance-medley relay squads in 2004 and 2005, while served as a team co-captain. He earned his bachelor's degree from Augsburg in marketing and music business in 2005.
A native of La Crescent, Minn., Vogel was also captain of his high school cross country and track and field teams, competing in events ranging from 400 meters to two miles. He earned all-conference honors several times with his highlights coming in cross country, placing second in his conference meet junior year and third his senior year, along with his team qualifying for the state meet. He remains active in running, currently training for the 2009 Toronto Marathon. Between 2006 and 2008, he has run the 26.2 mile distance three times, including the Twin Cities Marathon, Grandma's Marathon, and the Boston Marathon with a personal best of 2:49:47.
