Jennifer Jacobs (Minnesota State University Mankato '04) joined the Augsburg Athletic Department in 2012 as the assistant director of NCAA compliance and assistant volleyball coach, under the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority/Women’s Internship grant. In 2014, Jacobs was promoted to assistant athletic director of external relations/inclusion & diversity under the NCAA Division III Strategic Alliance Matching grant. She also serves as advisor to the Augsburg Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Jacobs is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA), recently serving on the Legislative and Governance committee, and is also a member of the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), and the Professionals of Color Commission-MN (POCC). Jacobs also serves on the Women’s Coaching Symposium planning committee. In June 2013, Jacobs was selected to participate in the NCAA Division III Institute for Administrative Advancement, and in April 2013 served as a speaker at the NCAA Inclusion Forum.

Prior to coming to Augsburg, Jacobs was a dean of students at Richfield High School. Jacobs served as the chair of the staff development committee related to equity and inclusion along with serving as a ranking member of the administrative team. Jacobs has an extensive background in providing professional development on inclusion/equity and conflict management. Jacobs also served on numerous school, district, and community committees, along with creating a parent involvement education program aimed at college readiness for underrepresented families.  

Prior to Richfield, Jacobs served as the coordinator of the college and career center at Harding High School where she played an integral role in increasing the number of high school students going to college. Jacobs also increased the amount of college scholarships students were receiving and developed a comprehensive conflict resolution program

In addition to her high school and college experience, Jacobs has extensive club coaching experience, as she has spent the past seven seasons as a coach in the Northern Lights volleyball program and has coached multiple Division I and II All-Americans, as well as many other high level collegiate athletes. Jacobs has experienced a great deal of success coaching with Northern Lights in the USA Junior Olympics circut winning three national championship bronze medals, two silvers and one national championship gold. 

Playing Career/Acheivements:
Jacobs was a four-year member of the Minnesota State University Mankato volleyball program, where she left as one of the most decorated players in school history. During her career, Jacobs earned All-NCC honors four times, and was selected as a third-team All-American during her final year of competition. Jacobs set numerous single-game and career school records and was the first player in school history to record over 1,000 career kills and digs. She held the career kill record from 2003-12, and currently holds the career dig record. During her junior season, the Mavericks finished the year with a 24-7 record and advanced to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA national tournament.

Personal/Family Notes:
A native of Saint Paul, Minn. Jacobs currently resides in Minneapolis. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Minnesota State University Mankato in 2004, and completed her master's degree in educational administration from Saint Mary's University in 2009.
