Laura Evans

Laura Evans (Southwest Minnesota State '09) enters her third season as a member of the Augsburg volleyball coaching staff. A standout player at the NCAA Division II level, Hegerle recently completed a two-year stint in the Augsburg Graduate Fellowship program.

In her first two seasons at Augsburg, Evans helped lead the Auggies near the top of the MIAC conference standings, having recorded two 16-win seasons and as well as the school's second-ever berth in the MIAC post-season tournament. Hegerle assists with the team's on-court practice and game preparation and coordinates the team's recruiting efforts.

During her one season at Luther, Evans helped lead the Norse team to a 26-12 overall record and trip to the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Playing Experience/ Achievements:
A three-year captain at Division II Southwest Minnesota State (2006-08), Evans (formerly Laura Hegerle) was an outside hitter for the Mustangs, finishing her SMSU career with 741 kills (2.96 kps) and 74 aces, playing on teams that were ranked in the top 10 nationally in Division II volleyball for two seasons in her career. She was a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week in the 2007 season, in addition to being named to the North Central Regional All-Tournament Team that year. Hegerle played her initial collegiate season at South Dakota State University before transferring to SMSU.

Other Duties/ Campus Involvement at Augsburg:
A member of the Augsburg College fellowship program, completing her Masters of Arts in Leadership degree at Augsburg.

Personal/Family Notes:
A native of Dodge Center, Minn., Hegerle and her husband Jared Evans, a former All-American wrestler at Augsburg, reside in Lakeville, Minn.
