Bruce Nelson, (Augsburg '71) a member of the Augsburg Athletic Hall of Fame, returned to Augsburg in the Fall of 2010 to serve as Advancement Manager for the Athletic Department A-Club. The son of legendary Augsburg football coach, Edor Nelson, Bruce helps oversee all aspects of the A-Club including the annual membership drive, and the annual Clair Strommen A-Club Golf Tournament.
In his role with the A-Club, Nelson has been instrumental in the completion of numerous athletic department facilities initiatives including improvements to the Ed Saugestad Arena, Si Melby Hall, and Edor Nelson Field. Nelson and the A-Club have also assisted with the fundraising of numerous Augsburg athletic teams, and helped fund the 30th Anniversary of the Augsburg Volleyball Invitational.
A four-year letter winner in both football and baseball at Augsburg, Nelson set numerous school records as a quarterback for the Augsburg football team. After graduating from Augsburg in 1971, Nelson spent the next 38 years as a teacher and coach in the Eagan and Burnsville, Minn. school district. Â
