The honor is the latest for Carl, who was named to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference squad earlier this month. Carl is the second Auggie to earn all-region recognition; pitcher Ryan Mestnik (FY, Prior Lake, Minn.) earned D3baseball.com All-Midwest Region third-team honors earlier this month.

In his first season as the Auggies' starting shortstop, Carl hit .361 (43-of-119) with 26 runs scored, 10 doubles and team highs of three home runs and 30 RBI. He stole eight bases in nine attempts, and had a .521 slugging percentage and .414 on-base percentage. Defensively, Carl was a part of 23 double plays this season, while producing a .937 fielding percentage.

His .361 batting average is seventh-best among MIAC players in overall statistics, while his 30 RBI is eighth-best. In conference games-only, Carl's .413 batting average was fourth-best among league players, while his 26 hits were fourth-best, his three home runs were tied for second-best, his 19 RBI were tied for second-best and his .651 slugging percentage was fourth-best.

In his two seasons at Augsburg (47 games, 42 starts), Carl is hitting .356 (47-of-132) with 26 runs scored, 10 doubles, three home runs, 32 RBI, nine stolen bases in 10 attempts, a .500 slugging percentage and a .401 on-base percentage. Carl was one of eight sophomores named to the 27-member All-MIAC team.

Augsburg finished 24-15 overall, 10-10 in MIAC play in 2012. Augsburg's 24 victories marked the fourth time that the Auggies have won 20 or more games in head coach Keith Bateman's nine seasons at Augsburg, and the Auggies' best record since a 24-18 mark in the 2005 season.
