Women's Basketball -- Graceland (Iowa) 73, Augsburg 66
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Augsburg College played its closest game of the season on Wednesday (12/30), but lost a halftime lead and fell to 0-6 overall, dropping a 73-66 women's basketball decision to Graceland College (Iowa) in the consolation game of the Dolphin Division of the Land of Magic Tournament, played at Embry-Riddle University.
Augsburg led 38-35 at halftime, but was outscored 38-28 in the second half. Graceland made up the difference in the second half at the free-throw line, hitting 17 of 26 shots, while Augsburg was limited to just five connections on eight attempts in the second half (18 of 25 on the game).
Colleen Shellum (Jr., Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS), coming off the bench, led the Auggies in scoring for the second game in a row, scoring a career-high 17 points, including four 3-pointers.
Leslie Lucas (Sr., Corcoran, Minn./Osseo HS) had 13 points and eight rebounds, while
Erin Brockberg (So., Pipestone, Minn./Pipestone-Jasper HS) had career highs of 10 points and seven rebounds.
Allison Illa (Fr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) led the Auggies with 11 rebounds.
Kellie Noyes (Jr., Springfield, Mo.) led the Yellowjackets with 14 points, one of five players for Graceland in double figures. Kristy Wills (So., Bethany, Mo.) had 12 points, and Traci Jermain (Fr., Conception Junction, Mo.) had 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Graceland is now 10-4 on the season and returns to Heart of America Athletic Conference action on Jan. 7, hosting Missouri Valley College in Lamoni, Iowa. Augsburg drops to 0-6 on the season and returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday, Jan. 2, traveling to St. Mary's University for a 3 p.m. game. Augsburg hosts St. Thomas on Monday, Jan., 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Si Melby Hall.
