Game Summary:
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (09/21/99) -- Carol Steffes (Sr., Milwaukee, Wis./Whitefish Bay HS) scored a three-goal hat trick Tuesday (9/21), leading her Bethel College Royals to a 5-1 victory over the Augsburg College Auggies in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer contest at Bethel.
Steffes added an assist for the Royals, who improved to 4-3 overall. Augsburg falls to 0-6 overall. The game was the MIAC season-opener for both teams.
Courtney Bresler (Sr., Marshalltown, Iowa) had the other two goals for the Royals, who outshot the Auggies by a 28-4 margin. Augsburg's lone goal came from
Brenda Selander (Jr., Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS), who has had both of Augsburg's goals this season.
Katie Cheese (So., Shakopee, Minn.) made 18 saves in goal for the Auggies. Jen Shockley (Jr., Duluth, Minn./East HS) made three saves for the Royals.
Augsburg returns to MIAC action with a home game Saturday afternoon (9/25) at 1 p.m. against Macalester at Anderson-Nelson Field, while Bethel hosts St. Catherine in a nonconference game on Friday at 4 p.m.
