Women's Soccer 10/11/00 -- St. Olaf 3, Augsburg 2
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/11/00) -- Host St. Olaf College rallied from a 2-1 deficit with two goals in a three-minute span in the second half, scoring a 3-2 victory over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer game Wednesday night at Rolf Mellby Field.
St. Olaf improves to 6-7-1 overall and 1-6 in the MIAC, while Augsburg drops to 6-7 overall and 2-5 in the MIAC.
Stacy Gauger (Sr., Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) scored on an assist from Hanni Wenker (Jr., Mendota Heights, Minn./St. Paul Academy HS) in the 66th minute to tie the game at 2-2. Three minutes and 35 seconds later, Karen Hamre (Jr., Roseville, Minn.) scored the eventual game-winning goal on an unassisted tally.
After a first-half goal by St. Olaf's Kerry Kyllo (Sr., Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove HS), Augsburg scored two unassisted goals to take a 2-1 halftime lead.
Stacy Waterman (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.) scored her third goal of the season in the 23rd minute, and
Heidi Hilleren (Fr., Duluth, Minn./East HS) notched her team-high fifth goal of the year in the 39th minute.
St. Olaf outshot Augsburg by a 24-8 margin.
Katie Cheese (Jr., Shakopee, Minn.) made 13 saves in goal for the Auggies.
Augsburg plays at St. Catherine on Saturday (10/14) at 12 noon in St. Paul, Minn., while St. Olaf plays at Concordia-Moorhead Saturday at 12 noon.
