MINNEAPOLIS (10/25/00) --
Cassi Van Ausdall (Sr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) had 10 kills and 12 digs to lead Augsburg College to a three-game sweep of visiting Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match Wednesday evening at Si Melby Hall.
Game scores were 15-13, 15-8, 15-10 in favor of Augsburg, which improved to 9-15 overall and 5-6 in the MIAC in its final conference match of the regular season. Hamline drops to 9-16 overall and 2-9 in the MIAC.
Paula Pogatchnik (So., Finlayson, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) led the Auggies with 12 kills and nine digs.
Kevina Nakiwala (So., Kampala, Uganda/Ashby, Minn., HS) added 10 kills, seven digs and three blocks.
Angie Rieger (Sr., Courtland, Minn./New Ulm Public HS) contributed nine kills and four blocks (two solo), and
Lisa Miller (So., Buffalo, Minn.) had six kills and a season-high seven blocks (three solo).
Emily Walen (Sr., Stillwater, Minn./Hastings HS) contributed 39 asssits.
The Pipers were paced by Kelly Leatherberry (So., West Linn, Ore.), who had nine kills, 15 digs and two blocks. Kjersti Hamlin (Fr., Spring Valley, Minn./Kingsland HS) had eight kills and 13 digs. Jenny Smith (So., Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) had seven kills, six blocks (two solo) and eight digs, and Emily Peterson (Fr., Copper Center, Alaska/Glennaller HS) had 23 assists.
Augsburg closes out the regular season hosting Northwestern College-Roseville in a nonconference match Friday (10/27) at 7 p.m. at Si Melby Hall. Hamline competes in the Wisconsin-River Falls Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
