Auggies pick up sixth win in final home game, 65-61 over Carleton!

Game Summary:
MINNEAPOLIS (2/16/00) -- Playing in her final home game, Jodi Soule (Sr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) scored 18 points -- 14 in the second half -- and pulled down six rebounds as Augsburg College scored a 65-61 women's basketball win over Carleton College on Wednesday night at Augsburg's Si Melby Hall.

With the win in the final home game of the season, Augsburg improves to 6-16 overall and 6-13 in the MIAC, doubling its win total from a year ago (3-22 overall, 3-19 MIAC). Carleton drops to 13-9 overall and 11-8 in the MIAC.

Augsburg led 26-24 at halftime, but gave up a 15-2 run over the first six minutes of the second half, as Carleton took a 39-28 lead. However, Augsburg chipped away at the Knight lead, outscoring the Knights 24-10 over the next nine minutes to take a lead they would not relinquish, 52-49 at the 5:49 mark. Augsburg led by as many as seven points down the stretch.

Jaime Kingsley (Jr., Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) notched her fifth double-double of the season, with 13 points and 19 rebounds, including 11 rebounds in the first half. Rachael Ekholm (So., Richfield, Minn.) had 12 points, three assists and three steals, and Allison Illa (So., Cannon Falls, Minn.) scored 10 points.

Soule's 18 points marked the 11th time she has scored in double figures this season -- including the ninth time in the last 11 games.

Carleton was paced by Laurie Peterson (Sr., Freeborn, Minn./United South Central HS), who had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Peterson had 10 points in the first half. Renee Willette (So., Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) had 11 points and six rebounds, and Sara Tompkins (Jr., Adams, Minn.) had nine points, six assists and three rebounds. Karissa Kramer (Fr., Clearwater, Minn./Monticello HS) contributed nine rebounds.

Augsburg plays at Hamline on Saturday (2/19) at 3 p.m., while Carleton plays at crosstown rival St. Olaf on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
