Women's Soccer 9/12/00 -- Augsburg 6, Buena Vista (Iowa) 0
MINNEAPOLIS (9/12/00) -- Augsburg College claimed its second straight women's soccer shutout win in a row on Tuesday night, blanking Buena Vista University (Iowa) 6-0 in a nonconference contest at Augsburg's Anderson-Nelson Field.
In its last two games, a 7-0 win over Crown (Minn.) on Saturday and Tuesday's 6-0 win, Augsburg has scored 13 goals, more goals than the Auggies scored in the last two seasons combined. Augsburg scored just five goals in both the 1999 and 1998 seasons.
Augsburg outshot Buena Vista by a 27-0 margin to improve to 2-2 overall. Buena Vista drops to 0-6 overall.
Anne Ducharme (Sr., Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) scored two goals in the first half, while
Heidi Hilleren (Fr., Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) had a goal and two assists, as Augsburg built a commanding 6-0 halftime advantage.
Hilleren notched her team-high third goal of the year just 58 seconds into the contest, followed a little over a minute later with a goal from
Kim Glumich (So., Moorhead, Minn.) off a corner kick. Another corner-kick goal was notched by
Kristi Ofstad (Fr., Rapid City, S.D./RC Stevens HS) at the 15:30 mark, followed by Ducharme's two goals.
Stacy Waterman (Sr. Burnsville, Minn.) capped the scoring with a goal from Ofstad in the 61st minute.
Buena Vista goalkeeper Laura Sanden (Fr., East Bethel, Minn.) made eight saves in the contest.
Augsburg returns to action facing Lakeland (Wis.) College on Saturday (9/16) at 12 noon at Edgewood College in Madison, Wis. The Auggies play at Edgewood on Sunday (9/17) at 12 noon.
