ST. PAUL, Minn. (9/30/00) -- Carley Bomstad (Fr., Apple Valley, Minn.) and Abby Dos Santos (Sr.,Washington, D.C. Sidwell Friends HS) had 11 kills apiece to lead Macalester College to a three-game sweep of Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match Saturday evening at Macalester. Game scores were 15-4, 15-12, 15-8.
Macalester improves to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the MIAC, while Augsburg drops to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in the MIAC.
The Scots registered their second-highest attack percentage of the season (.367) to claim the win, while Augsburg was hamperd by a poor hitting performance, with just 22 kills and 25 attack errors.
Angie Rieger (Sr., Courtland, Minn./New Ulm Public HS) had six kills and a team-high five blocks (three solo) for the Auggies. Cassi Can Ausdall (Sr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) had five kills and seven digs, and
Paula Pogatchnik (So., Finlayson, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) had five kills and two blocks.
Hilary Mead (Sr., Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township HS) added 10 kills and 11 digs for the Scots. TiAnna Jones (Sr., Woodlawn, Wash.) led the team with 13 digs and Erika Lilley (Sr., Saugus, Calif.) had 30 assists.
Augsburg hosts St. Thomas in an MIAC match on Wednesday (10/4) at 7:30 p.m., while Macalester travels to Hamline on Tuesday (10/3) at 7:30 p.m.
