GRINNELL, Iowa (9/1/01) -- Megan Pluskis scored the lone goal of the contest midway through the second half, leading host Grinnell College to a 1-0 win over Augsburg College in a nonconference women's soccer game Saturday afternoon.
Augsburg dropped to 0-2 overall, completing its season-opening trip to Iowa. It was Grinnell's first game of the season.
Pluskis scored on a pass through the middle from the right side by Dana Price in the 60th minute, the only goal the Pioneers would need in scoring the home win.
Grinnell outshot Augsburg by a 24-4 margin, with Anne Howard making four saves to score the win in the nets for Grinnell.
Laura Hoffman (So., Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) made 10 saves in a losing effort for the Auggies.
Augsburg returns to action on Thursday, hosting Crown College (Minn.) as part of a soccer doubleheader at Edor Nelson Field. The women's soccer game between the two schools is at 4 p.m.; the men's soccer game is at 6:30 p.m.
