ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/12/02) -- The 17th-ranked University of St. Thomas volleyball team scored a three-game win over visiting Augsburg College Saturday in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action in Schoenecker Arena.

The Tommies' 30-16, 30-21, 30-22 victory let them stay unbeaten in the MIAC and move into sole possession of the MIAC lead. St. Benedict lost in four games Saturday at Gustavus to drop to 7-1 in the conference. Augsburg drops to 2-16 overall and 1-7 in MIAC play, dropping its sixth match in a row.

St. Thomas (22-2 overall, 8-0 MIAC) won its 11th conference regular-season match in a row. Katie Reynolds had 15 kills and 12 digs; Jane Gibbs had 22 assists and nine digs in two games; Kristin Pins had three solo and three assisted blocks; and Erika Wetzel had 17 digs.

Augsburg hit just .000 in the match, with 23 attack errors and 23 kills. Kristy Larson (So., Pine Island, Minn.) led the Auggies with seven kills and three blocks, while Lisa Miller (Sr., Hanover, Minn./Buffalo HS) had five kills. Denise Foster (Sr., Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) had six kills and 15 digs, Linnea Evans (Fr., Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) had 15 digs and Alli Burgess (Jr., Soudan, Minn/Tower-Soudan HS) had 14 digs.

The Tommies play host to St. Mary's Wednesday (10/16) at 7:30 p.m., while Augsburg plays at Concordia-Moorhead on Thursday (10/17) at 7:30 p.m.
