TOURNAMENT STATS

POMONA, Calif. (9/14/02) -- Kristy Larson (So., Pine Island, Minn.) led Augsburg College with 34 kills and a .273 attack percentage, as the Auggie volleyball team went 1-3 at the Pacific Coast Classic tournament, held at Pomona-Pitzer and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps colleges Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, Augsburg was swept in two matches, losing to Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) 30-26, 30-21, 30-20; and to Whittier (Calif.) 30-18, 30-21, 30-24. On Saturday, the Auggies picked up their first win of the season, sweeping Mills (Calif.) 30-19, 30-18, 30-18. Augsburg lost its last match, to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.), 30-21, 30-18, 30-28. Augsburg is now 1-9 overall.

Larson compiled nine kills against Pomona-Pitzer and Whittier, and eight kills against Mills and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. She also had six blocks (one solo) on the weekend.

Lisa Miller (Sr., Hanover, Minn./Buffalo HS) also had a solid weekend, with 29 kills, a .228 attack percentage and nine blocks (four solo). She had 10 kills against Pomona-Pitzer, eight against Whittier and nine against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, adding four blocks each in the matches against Pomona-Pitzer and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Paula Pogatchnik (Sr., Finlayson, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) added 26 kills and a team-high 30 digs on the weekend. Denise Foster (Sr., Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) had 19 kills and 17 digs, and Kelly Larvick (Sr., Good Thunder, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial HS) had 13 kills, 15 digs and six blocks.

Anna Piermantier (Jr., Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) compiled 99 assists on the weekend, including 30 against Pomona-Pitzer and 28 against Whittier.

Augsburg returns home to Minnesota on Wednesday (9/18), opening Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a home match against St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m.
