BOXSCORE

WINONA, Minn. (9/17/02) -- Millie Suk (Fr., Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) scored her first goals -- and her first career hat trick -- to lead Augsburg College to its third shutout win of the season, a 3-0 triumph over St. Mary's University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer match Tuesday afternoon at Ochrymowycz Field.

Suk's three-goal performance provided more goals for Augsburg than in its prior four games, as both Augsburg and its opponents scored two goals apiece. All three of Augsburg's win have come via shutout. Augsburg is now 3-2 overall and 1-2 in MIAC play, while St. Mary's drops to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in MIAC play.

Along the way, Augsburg goalkeeper Laura Hoffman * (Jr., Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) moved into a second-place tie on the school's all-time record list for shutouts with her 10th career blanking and third of this season; Kim Aveldson, who played in 1998, 1990 and 91, also had 10 shutouts in her career. Beth Petrik holds the school record with 26 career shutouts from 1995-98.

Hoffman made nine saves in the game, as Augsburg outshot St. Mary's by a 17-15 margin.

Suk scored her first goal at the 2:40 mark of play as an unassisted tally, then added her other two goals to complete the hat trick in the final 20 minutes of play. Her second goal, also unassisted, came in the 72nd minute, and her final goal, on an assist from Tia Chronis (Fr., Braham, Minn.), came in the 85th minute.
