BOXSCORE
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (9/21/02) --
Millie Suk (Fr., Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) continued her hot scoring streak, with the lone goal of the game in the 42nd minute, leading Augsburg College to a 1-0 win over host Bethel College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer match Saturday afternoon at Armstrong Stadium.
Suk, who scored three goals in Augsburg's 3-0 win over St. Mary's on Wednesday, added another unassisted goal to give her a team-high four this season. Augsburg improved to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in MIAC play, with all four wins coming via shutout. Bethel drops to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in MIAC play.
Augsburg goalkeeper
Laura Hoffman * (Jr., Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) made four saves in the contest to record her fourth shutout of the season and 11th in her three-year career. The shutout moves her past Kim Aveldson (1998, 1990, 91) into second place alone on the school's all-time record list for shutouts. Beth Petrik holds the school record with 26 career shutouts from 1995-98.
Bethel outshout Augsburg 11-4, but Suk made the Royals pay with her goal, coming with 8:39 left in the first half. Fellow forward
Tia Chronis (Fr., Braham, Minn.) made a nice move to the middle and after a pass attempt was deflected, Suk got the ball and fired a blast from 25 yards out, passing Bethel goalkeeper Jennie Pulford (So., Richfield, Minn.). Pulford had three saves in the game.
