Kristy Larson (So., Pine Island, Minn.) had 15 kills and
Lisa Miller (Sr., Hanover, Minn./Buffalo HS) had 12 kills, leading Augsburg College to a three-games-to-one victory over host Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match Wednesday night at Hutton Arena.
Game scores were 30-20, 27-30, 30-23, 30-22 in favor of the Auggies, who improved to 2-10 overall and 1-1 in MIAC play. Hamline is now 6-4 overall and 0-2 in MIAC play.
Kelly Larvick (Sr., Good Thunder, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial HS) contributed five kills and a team-high eight service aces. As a team, Augsburg had 15 service aces to Hamline's four, and Hamline was limited to single-digit kills in three of the four games, hitting just .051.
Denise Foster (Sr., Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) had six kills and led Augsburg with 19 digs.
Paula Pogatchnik (Sr., Finlayson, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) had six kills and 14 digs, and
Andrea Spiess (Sr., St. Paul, Minn./St. Bernard's HS) had a career-high 16 digs. Foster and Spiess also had three service aces each.
Anna Piermantier (Jr., Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) had a season-high 34 assists and seven digs for the Auggies.
Hamline was led by Amy Hill (Jr., Hibbing, Minn.), who had 12 kills, 10 digs and two blocks (one solo). Laura Fleischman (Jr., Lester Prairie, Minn.) had 10 kills and two blocks (both solo), while Emily Peterson (Jr., Copper Center, Alaska) had 31 assists, eight digs and five blocks (one solo).
Both teams return to action on Friday (9/27) at 7:30 p.m., Augsburg hosting Macalester and Hamline hosting Bethel.
