MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/18/03) -- For the second straight game Jared Swanson (Sr., Morris, Minn.) scored over 20 points, and for the second straight game, Concordia College-Moorhead won. The Cobbers put up a season-high 81 points in beating Augsburg College 81-74 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday at Memorial Auditorium.

Concordia made a 10-0 run at the end of the first half hold up as it won for the second time in four days. Swanson, fresh off a 24-point performance on Wednesday against Hamline, torched the Auggies for a season-high 26 points. Swanson shot a red-hot 13-for-15 (.867) from the field. His output helped Concordia shoot a season-best 62.2 percent (28-for-45) from the field in the game.

Yarzue Slowon had 19 points for Augsburg in the loss. Concordia held the Auggies to an ice-cold 22.2 percent (6-for-27) from 3-point range. The Cobbers, last in the league in 3-point field goal defense entering this week, held Hamline and Augsburg to just 18.7% (9-for-48) from beyond the arc in picking up their first two MIAC wins of the season.

Besides Swanson, the Cobbers had three players in double-digits. Point guard Joe Bueckers (Jr., Pine River, Minn.) scored 14 points and dished out 6 assists. Chris Thomas (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) added 13 points to go along with a team-high 7 rebounds.

Concordia will put their two-game winning streak on the line when they host St. Mary's on Monday (1/20) at 7:30 p.m. Augsburg will have a bye on Monday before playing at Gustavus on Wednesday (1/22) at 7:30 p.m.
