ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/29/03) -- The 15th-ranked University of St. Thomas volleyball team sailed to a three-game win over visiting Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match on Wednesday night at Schoenecker Arena. St. Thomas won 30-12, 30-20, 30-22 in its last regular-season match.
The Tommies (24-5 overall, 10-1 MIAC) are now 28-3 in their last 31 conference regular-season matches. Augsburg ended its season at 3-24 (1-10 conference).
The Tommies, who clinched their second consecutive MIAC championship last week, have secured a first-round bye and the top seed for next week's six-team playoffs. St. Thomas will host a semifinal match Nov. 6 (7:30 p.m.), and with a win there would host the playoff championship match Nov. 8 (7 p.m.).
Senior Emily Buehler surpassed 250 career aces in Wednesday's win. She had 15 kills and 13 digs and hit .357 to help the Tommies hit .304 as a team. Michelle Marquardt had 13 digs and Amanda Guralski had 10 digs and four kills.
Kristy Larson (Jr., Pine Island, Minn.) had four aces and six kills and
Linnea Evans (So., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) had 16 digs to lead the Auggies.
