ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (12/10/03) -- Four players scored in double figures, led by 13 points each from Anna Heikenen and Brittney Johnson, as the College of St. Benedict claimed a 78-48 victory over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at CSB's Claire Lynch Hall.

Fourteen Blazers saw game action and 12 scored, as the hosts remained unbeaten at 5-0 overall and 4-0 in MIAC play. St. Benedict is ranked 19th in the latest D3hoops.com NCAA Division III national poll. Augsburg drops to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in MIAC play.

Augsburg was led by Julie Andert * (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.), who collected her second double-double of the season and third of her career, with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Selina Theisen (Fr., Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) scored in double figures for the sixth straight game, with 11 points and five rebounds.

Tied at 6-6 in the opening minutes, St. Benedict went on a 9-2 run to take a 16-8 lead with 12:39 left in the first half. Augsburg cut the lead to four points, but the Blazers outscored the Auggies 23-8 the rest of the first half to take a 39-20 lead into the locker room at intermission. St. Benedict kept pouring it on in the second half, not allowing the Auggies to cut the advantage under 21 points.

Augsburg shot just 24.7 percent (19-of-77) from the field, including 0-of-13 from three-point range. Meanwhile, the Blazers connected on 45.3 percent of their shots (29-of-64), including seven 3-pointers.

Kim Johnson and Tara Schloe had 10 points apiece for the Blazers, while Leah Laurich had nine points and Anne Cowles scored eight. Schloe's nine rebounds led the Blazers, while Heikenen had seven boards.

Ashley Sasek (Jr., Waukesha, Wis./Kettle Moraine HS) and Emily Anderson (So., Hudson, Wis.) had eight points apiece for the Auggies.

Augsburg is off for the holiday break and returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 3, hosting St. Thomas at 3 p.m. at Si Melby Hall.
