PELLA, Iowa (8/30/03) -- Emily Anderson (Fr., Eau Claire, Wis.) had a goal and an assist, and Millie Suk (So., Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) scored her first goal of the season, as Augsburg College scored its second straight shutout to open the season, a 2-0 triumph at Central College in nonconference women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

Laura Hoffman (Sr., Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) made six saves to recorded her 18th career shutout in goal for the victors, as the Auggies improved to 2-0 on the season. It was Central's first contest of the year. Her 18 career shutouts are second in school history to Beth Petrik, who had 26 from 1995-98.

Suk, who led the Auggies with 12 goals and 26 total points last season, notched her first goal of the year on an assist from Anderson in the 17th minute. Just before halftime, Anderson notched her second goal of the year, on an assist from Kristi Ofstad (Sr., Rapid City, S.D./Stevens HS).

Augsburg outshot Central by a 31-10 margin, including a 17-4 advantage in the first half. Central's Kate Pipho (Sr., Grimes, Iowa/Dallas Center-Grimes HS) made 12 saves in 75 minutes of action, while Ashley Veiglt (Fr., Plainfield, Ill.) made one save in 15 minutes.

Augsburg returns to action at home on Friday (9/5), hosting the College of St. Scholastica in a soccer doubleheader at Edor Nelson Field. The women's game is at 4:30 p.m., with the men's game following at 7 p.m. Central hosts Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
