DUBUQUE, Iowa (9/12-13/03) -- Kristy Larson (Jr., Pine Island, Minn.) led Augsburg College with 37 kills and a .253 attack percentage to be named to the All-Tournament Team, as the Auggie volleyball team competed in the River City Classic tournament on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday at Loras College, Augsburg was swept in two matches, losing to Augustana (Ill.) 30-23, 30-16, 30-20; and to Loras (Iowa) 30-20, 30-17, 20-13. On Saturday at Clarke College, the Auggies went to four games in a loss to North Central (Ill.) 26-30, 30-22, 32-30, 30-26; and lost in five games to Clarke (Iowa) 28-30, 30-25, 30-23, 28-30, 15-12. Augsburg is now 1-7 overall.

The lone Auggie named to the 12-player All-Tournament Team in the nine-team tournament, Larson had nine kills and hit .500 (one error in 16 attempts) against Loras, had eight kills against North Central and a season-high 15 kills against Clarke. She also had nine blocks on the weekend (four solo).

All 14 Auggies saw action over the weekend, with Elsie Ginsberg (Fr., St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) making her Auggie debut, compiling 30 kills and 11 blocks (four solo). Ginsberg had 11 kills against Loras, hitting .450 (two errors in 20 attempts). She added eight kills against North Central.

Bri Simon (Fr., Hayfield, Minn.) had 26 kills and a team-high 34 digs on the weekend, while Linnea Evans (So., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) had 22 kills, 26 digs and five blocks.

Billie Painschab (So., Howard Lake, Minn./Howard Lake-Waverly HS) had 17 kills and a team-high 16 blocks (one solo), and Britt Bogner (So., Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had 12 kills, five service aces and 14 digs.

Alexis Johnson (So., Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) led teh Auggies with 95 assists and 32 digs, while Anna Piermantier (Sr., Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) had 31 assists and 13 digs.

Augsburg returns to action in Minnesota on Wednesday (9/17), opening Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a match at Concordia-Moorhead at 7:30 p.m.
