NORTHFIELD, Minn. (9/26/03) -- Katie Freeman (Jr., Richfield, Minn.) tallied nine kills and seven digs and Beth Freeman (Jr., Richfield, Minn.) and Jessica Black (So./Greenwood Vilalge, Colo./Cherry Creek) added eight kills each as the Carleton College volleyball team swept by Augsburg College, 30-19, 30-21, 30-11 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match Friday night at Carleton's West Gym.

Carleton (12-3, 3-1 MIAC) continued its best start in school history by hitting .307 as a team, notching 42 kills on 88 attempts with 15 errors. Katie Haldy (Sr., Broomfield, Colo.) led the team with 26 assists and Alivia Bryan (So., Eugene, Ore./Winston Churchill HS) added five kills on only seven attempts and led the team with four blocks.

Augsburg (2-12, 0-2 MIAC) was led by Elsie Ginsberg (Fr., St. Paul, Minn./Central HS), who had a match-high 10 kills. Kristy Larson (Jr., Pine Island, Minn.) had six kills, hitting .500 (one error in 10 attempts), and Britt Bogner (So., Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had five kills.

Alexis Johnson (So., Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) dished out 16 assists and added four digs.

Both teams return to MIAC action on Saturday (9/27) at 3 p.m., with Augsburg hosting Macalester at Si Melby Hall and Carleton hosting St. Catherine.
