SUPERIOR, Wis. (10/7-8/05) --
Linnea Evans * (Sr., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) and
Billie Painschab * (Sr., Howard Lake, Minn./Howard Lake-Waverly HS) earned spots on the all-tournament team, leading the Augsburg College volleyball team to a 2-2 record and a second-place finish at the University of Wisconsin-Superior Jacket Classic tournament, held Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Augsburg scored two four-game victories over Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rivals, as the Auggies topped Hamline 29-31, 30-21, 30-22, 30-24; and St. Catherine 27-30, 30-21, 30-27, 30-20. On Saturday, Augsburg dropped two matches to Wisconsin-Superior, falling in three games 31-29, 30-25, 30-17; and in four games 30-20, 30-17, 16-30, 30-23. Augsburg is now 5-19 overall.
Evans compiled 26 kills, 62 assists, 18 digs and nine blocks (four solo) on the weekend. She had a double-double with 11 kills and 19 assists against St. Catherine, while claiming 29 assists in the two matches against Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday.
Painschab also had 26 kills on the weekend, to go with eight blocks (three solo). She had nine kills against Hamline, and 14 kills and four blocks (two solo) in the two matches against Wisconsin-Superior.
Sarah Bradley (So., International Falls, Minn.) led the Auggies with 43 kills and 27 digs on the weekend. She had 13 kills and nine digs against Hamline, and 14 kills and 10 digs against St. Catherine.
Katie LaGrave (So., Okinawa, Japan/Kadena HS) had 35 kills, hitting .350, and eight blocks (three solo) on the weekend. She had nine kills agaisnt Hamline, 11 kills against St. Catherine, and 11 kills and three blocks (one solo) in the first match against Wisconsin-Superior.
Britt Bogner (Sr., Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had 18 kills, two blocks (one solo) and a team-high seven service aces on the weekend.
Alexis Johnson (Sr., Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) had 94 assists and 14 digs on the weekend, while
Haley Bower (So., Brainerd, Minn.) had 48 digs and six service aces.
Augsburg returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a match at St. Mary's on Wednesday (10/12) at 7 p.m.
