Anderson scores late, Augsburg notches third straight shutout win, 1-0 win at Hamline!

ST. PAUL, Minn. (9/17/05) -- Emily Anderson * (Jr., Hudson, Wis.) on an assist from Millie Suk * (Sr., Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) in the 89th minute, enabling Augsburg College to remain unbeaten with a 1-0 win over host Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Pat Paterson Fields.

Anderson scored her team-high fourth goal of the season for the Auggies. She had seven of Augsburg's 11 shots on the day, with Suk adding two shots.

Freshman goalkeeper Maggie DeGroot (Fr., Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West HS) made four saves in goal to pick up her fifth shutout of the season in just her seventh collegiate game for the Auggies.

Augsburg is now 5-0-2 on the season, 2-0-0 in MIAC play, continuing the best unbeaten streak (seven games) to start a season in the history of Augsburg women's soccer. The previous best unbeaten start to a season was five games (4-0-1) in the 1997 season.

Augsburg has claimed its third straight shutout victory, extending a shutout streak to 329 minutes. Augsburg has now outscored its opponents by a 16-3 margin this season.

Hamline is now 2-2-0 overall, 0-1-0 in MIAC play.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday (9/21), with Hamline hosting St. Catherine at 4 p.m. and Augsburg playing at St. Benedict at 4:30 p.m.
